Freeciv

Build cities, research discoveries and guide a civilization from its first settlers with the original Freeciv rules and computer opponent running on your device.

Choose a player name and Start Game. Select a settler and use Build city (B). Open Research to choose a discovery, and Turn Done to let the computer take its turn. The Manual explains terrain, units and strategy.

Saves

Options → Save Game creates an original .sav.gz file to download. Load save file validates a local .sav or .sav.gz with the original engine before replacement and offers a pre-import backup. Download a save before closing or stopping; unfinished games are not automatically retained after the tab closes.

Freeciv — help & credits

Click or tap units and their orders. Arrow keys move a selected unit on desktop; on a phone choose Unit goto, then tap a destination. Use the original Map, Government, Research, Nations, Cities and Manual tabs. Options switches between original 2D and 3D graphics and controls sound and turn timing.

The game is made by its original authors. Leaf Arcade provides this browser player. Tab leaves the local game canvas; stopping unloads its audio and runtime.
