How to play Baska
The red (heart-ace) variant, sixteen cards: ace, ten, queen and jack in each suit. Trump strength: heart ace, heart ten, queens clubs-spades-hearts-diamonds, jacks in that order, diamond ace, diamond ten. Other cards keep their printed suits. Old partners hold club and spade queens; holding both creates a silent solo. Wedding pairs that holder with the first available club, spade or heart jack holder. Auction offers Grand, Zolo and their all-trick Du contracts, with alternating counters up to redouble. Grand has only jack trumps. Four tens, aces or queens automatically claim Zolo Bieda, Master or Baska. Follow suit and beat the winner when possible. Card points are A11, 10=10, Q3, J2. Old side needs 53; with 52–52, the side that last countered loses. Ordinary/wedding stakes rise for failure to reach 26 (young) or 27 (old), or failure to take a trick; old losses cost twice. Silent solo stakes four, Grand/Zolo five, Du/honor ten, all doubled by counters. Paired winners gain the stake each; a solo winner gains it from each opponent; highest total after sixteen hands wins. Black and three-tens variants are outside this table.
