How to play Durak

Individual throw-in Durak with 36 cards, six through ace. Deal six each; the bottom stock card shows trump and is drawn last. The lowest dealt trump holder opens. Attack with one card, then add ranks already on the table, including defended ranks. The defender beats a card with a higher card of the same suit or any trump over a nontrump. Attacks are capped at six cards or the defender’s starting hand size. The main attacker has first priority; finishing offers other attackers a clockwise turn. Taking opens a final throw-in window, then the defender collects all table cards and skips their next attack. Successful defense discards the table and the defender attacks next. Refill the main attacker first, other players clockwise and defender last. Empty hands leave once the stock runs out. The last player holding cards loses; simultaneous empty hands draw. This table has no transfer attacks, teams or optional trump-six exchange.
