How to play Makao

Five cards each from a 52-card deck. Match the pile’s suit or rank, or play a queen on an ordinary card; any ordinary card fits a queen. Groups of the same rank can be played together, with the first card matching. Twos and threes add draw penalties; the heart king adds five to the next player, the spade king to the previous player. Penalties can be stacked with any fighting card. Fours add waiting turns, countered with fours. Jacks request an ordinary rank for one complete cycle, or cancel a request; aces request a suit for the next player. Queens do not override demands. A normal draw offers only that new card for immediate play. Say Makao with the checkbox when one card remains; the next player can catch a missed declaration for five cards. When both stock and reusable discards run out, every player returns a random half of their hand, rounded down. The first empty hand wins. No jokers or sequence-chain variant.
