The official Liero website permits free distribution. Its official 1.33 ZIP includes LICENSE.TXT, which records WTFPL for the original data and binary, BSD-3-Clause for SMIX, and freely distributable Molez sounds.
The complete official ZIP is unchanged, including the editor and documentation. LICENSE.TXT explicitly supersedes the earlier notice in LIEROENG.TXT. No purchase or imported files are required.
The author released the complete trilogy as freeware in 2008 and confirmed in 2016 that faithful ports may use its original assets. We run the original DOS executables from the intact registered archive.
The original notices are preserved. The author’s permission does not allow reusing these assets to create a different game; the source-code release has its own restrictions.
Apogee’s December 2005 release notes explicitly permit uploading and downloading the full game when all files are distributed as released. We preserve that complete package, including all three episodes and its compatibility patch.
Freeware, with copyright retained. The notice prohibits selling the game or using its materials for your own gain. These episodes have no paid access; the release does not grant general commercial-use or asset-reuse rights.
